how do you start your day?
faith July 23rd, 2006The morning is still and dark and peaceful and hopeful and renewing.
I try to start my day with the Lord. It doesn't always happen, but I cherish when it does. This is one of those mornings.
Being the computer geek, I don't grab my Bible or a book. Instead, I go online. Here are some of the resources I use:
- English Standard Version: Great interface for searching and reading.
- Daily Light on the Daily Path: A daily medley of topically similar verses throughout the Bible. I usually end up clicking through all of the references to read the verses in full context.
- Classic Bible Commentaries
- The Spurgeon Archive: A collection of material from C.H. Spurgeon
- Wikipedia: What? Yep, Wikipedia is a vast resource for researching the historical perspective on Christianity. For example: Christian theology
What do you use?

I'm looking at the new version New English Translation that looks really good. Have you checked it out online? It's available for free online viewing at http://www.bible.org/netbible/ and I told my spouse I would like to have a specific hard copy edition for my birthday. I think you would enjoy reading it.

Thanks. The NET looks to have really good translation notes. For instance, there's a good 300+ word explanation for the decision to to put "…the Word was fully God." in John 1:1.
Not sure I like the online interface, though. It's a little dated, and no search?

Thanks for the great links. I've been using The Blue Letter Bible when doing online reading.
